Fronfelter scores career-high 23 in IWA win

PORTSMOUTH—The Isle of Wight Academy boys basketball team rode a record-breaking performance by senior Alex Fronfelter to defeat Metropolitan Athletic Conference opponent Portsmouth Christian 71-61 on Saturday.

Fronfelter led the Chargers with a career-high 23 points, as well as a career-high seven, 3-pointers. Senior Nathan Sivertson netted 22 points and led all player with 17 rebounds; senior Austin Rogers and sophomore Casey Williams added 11 points apiece.

The Chargers finished the week 8-4 in the MAC and 17-5 overall.

IWA will next travel to Broadwater Academy for a 7 p.m. MAC game on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

In action from Friday, the Chargers fell to MAC opponent Williamsburg Christian 57-45, despite outscoring out-scoring the Eagles 14-13 in the fourth quarter. Sivertson led IWA with 21 points.
