Boykins Bulldogs win championship game

FRANKLIN—The Boykin’s Bulldogs fought off a fourth-quarter drive by the Franklin Mustangs to win the championship game for the first time in four years.

The score was 15-12.

With 41 seconds remaining in the Franklin Little League Championship game at Armory Field, the Mustangs were faced with fourth and long and went to the air. The pass was picked off by the Bulldogs to seal the win.

The Mustangs got out to an early 12-7 lead on a touchdown run by Shamon Reid-Wilkerson and a passing touchdown from Wilkerson to Desmond Banks. The Bulldogs then scored a touchdown and got a safety to take the 15-12 lead at halftime and let the defense do the rest.

Kalil Thomas scored both touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

The Mustangs finished the season 5-1 and the Bulldogs were 4-1-1. The Bulldogs’ only loss was to the Mustangs, who won that regular season meeting 19-13 after falling behind 13-0 at halftime.
