Rosalind and Kevin Cutchins of Suffolk have announced the engagement of their daughter, Kelsey, to Andrew Beard of Charlotte, N.C.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. J.W. Cutchins of Boykins and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Crenshaw, and J.W. Cutchins.
She graduated from Lakeland High School in 2006, and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in school psychology from James Madison University, and in 2013 expects to complete her education specialist degree in school psychology.
Her fiancé is the son of Sally and James Gill Beard of Powhatan.
He is the grandson of Lois Metcalf and John Metcalf, both of Lynchburg, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Garland Beard of Richmond.
He graduated from Lakeland High School in 2005, and received a degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Military Institute in 2009. He works for DSM Dyneema.
The couple plans to marry Oct. 5, 2013.
