SOUTH HILL – The Southampton High School football team followed up its first win of the season with a loss Friday at the hands of the defending Southside District champion Park View.
The Indians’ sluggish start resulted in the 52-6 loss, said Coach Wes Griffith.
“They were the district champs last year and they proved they deserved it again,” Griffith said. “We came out flat and it showed. We have to come out with more intensity.”
Southampton’s only score came on a one-yard run by senior Jerry Wright in the second quarter.
With the loss the Indians fall to 1-4 on the season.
The Indians are coming off their first win of the season in which they scored a season-high 48 points against Windsor. In that game Wright ran for four touchdowns as the Indians racked up 333 yards of total offense.
Southampton will take on George Washington at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
