ROCK HILL, S.C.—Southampton High School catcher Emily Nelson has been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South on Aug. 24 and 25 at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C.

This is the sixth event for the Queen of Diamonds in the South. It is the largest fast-pitch softball showcase of its kind in the United States.

This event continues to attract athletes from 30-plus states and two Canadian provinces. Its sister showcase, the Queen of Diamonds North, is in its 18th season.

Nearly 2,000 applied for both events and 264-plus were selected. Team members are chosen for their ability, potential, academics, graduation year, coaches’ requests and referrals.

Nelson also plays travel ball for the Southampton Storm 18U.
