Southampton/Sussex All-Stars win title

SUFFOLK—The 12-year-old Southampton/Sussex All-Stars defeated Windsor twice to win the district championship in the Bronco division.

The team made up of players from eight teams in the league beat Windsor 12-8. Strong performances from pitchers Davis Powell of Wakefield, Cameron Seal of Hunterdale and Nash Warren of Courtland helped lead to the victory.

Southampton/Sussex defeated Windsor 6-1 in the championship game. Thomas Pruitt of Hunterdale pitched seven and one-third innings for the win.

The team also beat the Suffolk Nationals 22-6 in the championship run.

The win qualified Southampton/Sussex for a sectional tournament in Chesapeake. The local all-stars beat Southern Chesapeake Red 3-2 before losing to Western Branch Gold 10-0.

A single by Justin Graham of Courtland scored Jeffrey Peden to help Southampton/Sussex defeat Little Creek National and advance to the championship game, where they lost to Western Branch 9-3.
