Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dean Nelms of Quinton announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Margaret, to Adam Vaughan Gillette, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Adams Gillette of Franklin.


The bride-to-be is the paternal granddaughter of Mary Lou Arrowood of Highland Springs and the late Robert Nelms and the maternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. Knowles.

Her fiancé is the paternal grandson of Mrs. James T. Gillette Jr. of Courtland and the late James Gillette and the maternal grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roland L. Vaughan.

The bride-to-be is a 2007 graduate of New Kent High School and a 2011 graduate of Longwood University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She is a fourth-grade teacher at New Kent County Schools.

The groom-to-be is a 2006 graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and a 2010 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics. He is a manager trainee at 84 Lumber in Richmond.

An August 2012 wedding is planned.
