Dennis Buckner of Como, N.C., and Gina Buckner of Windsor announce the engagement of their daughter, Courtney Denise Buckner, to Brandon Wayne Rice.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Grace Howell of Windsor and the late Marion Howell, and the late Tabby and William Buckner.

A 2007 graduate of Windsor High School, she is studying diagnostic medical sonography at Tidewater Community College.

Her fiancé is the son of Jeannette and Chris Stephens of Ivor and Ray and Beverly Rice of Fort Lee. His grandparents are Mary and Ray Rice of Madison, Ga., and Mary Wyatt of Timberville, and the late Latena and Elwood Powell, Ray Richards and Mike Wyatt.

A 2006 graduate of Windsor High School, he is a nuclear ship fitter at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

The couple will marry Nov. 3, 2012, at Colosse Baptist Church in Windsor.
