FRANKLIN—The Southampton Academy tennis team defeated Tidewater Academy 6-3 Tuesday at Cypress Cove Country Club.

In singles action, Barclay Gatten defeated Casey Richards 6-1 and remains undefeated this season. Megan Drewry defeated Abby Malcolm 6-2, Olivia Fox lost to Dana Clements 2-6, Rebecca Lewis defeated Brooke O’Gara 6-3, Kristen Wachsmann lost to Olivia Razafinimanan 1-6 and Mina Johnson defeated Sarah Seward 6-1.

In doubles action, Gatten/Fox defeated Richards/Malcolm 6-0, Drewry/Lewis defeated Clements/O’Gara in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3) and Wachsmann/Johnson lost to Razafinimanana/Seward 2-6.

“This is our first match in almost two weeks, but the girls played strong and once again relied on their fundamentals to win the match,” SA Coach JoAnn Gatten said.
