Porter, Umphlett win tournament

LITTLETON, N.C.—Marty Porter and Harvey Umphlett won round three of the Three Rivers Bass Tournament Series at Lake Gaston on Sunday.

Fishing from Peahill Creek Landing, the winning team caught five bass that weighed a total of 12.48 pounds.

“I really like fishing at Lake Gaston,” Porter said. “I’m not sure I want to go back to (fishing) the rivers.”

Billy Daniels and John Edwards took second with a total weight of 11.51 pounds followed by Tony Floyd and Todd Harris in third, Joey Scott and Amber Patterson in fourth, and Mark Wilkerson and Red Arnold in fifth.

Porter caught the heaviest bass of the day at 5.24 pounds.

The bass club will be fishing from the Nottoway River on April 28 with a members-only tournament.

There will be an open-to-the-public bass tournament on Saturday, May 12, with anglers competing in a Big Bass Challenge.
