Dr. and Mrs. Michael David Nickerson Sr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Drewry Elizabeth Nickerson, to Russell Cayton Carter.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur James Carter III of Richardson, Texas.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Blount Drewry of Boykins, Gwendolyn Johnson Nickerson of Salem, and Mr. and Mrs. David Luther Nickerson of Blacksburg.

A 2003 graduate of Lancaster High School, she received a bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry in 2007 with a specialization in biochemistry from the University of Virginia. She is a fourth-year pharmacy student at the Virginia Commonwealth School of Pharmacy.

Her fiancé is the grandson of Mary Jo Lanford of Richardson and the late Cayton French Knox and the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur James Carter Jr.

A 2000 graduate of J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson, he received a bachelor’s of arts degree in business with a concentration in marketing from Jamestown College in North Dakota. He received his master’s degree in business administration in 2007 with a focus on finance from the University of Texas-Dallas. He is an account manager at Fahrenheit Technology in Richmond.

A June 16, 2012, wedding is planned in Edenton, N.C.
