Betty Scott Joyner of Franklin has announced the engagement of her daughter Whitney Nicole to McKinley Majette, son of Patricia Davis and Ronald Majette of Franklin.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late Elder Linwood S. Joyner Sr. of Franklin. She is the granddaughter of Mary Ann Scott and the late Bert Scott of Sedley and Mildred Joyner and the late Elder Roland Joyner of Windsor.

She is a 2004 honor graduate of Southampton High School and a 2008 graduate of the College of William and Mary with a bachelor of arts degree in English and a minor in sociology. She completed her master of business administration degree at Strayer University in 2011 with a concentration in hospitality and tourism management. Joyner is employed as a civilian telecommunications specialist for the U.S. Army.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Dorothy Artis, the late McKinley Artis, and Betty Majette of Franklin and Leon Majette of Oxon Hill, Md.

He is a 2004 honor graduate of Franklin High School and a 2008 graduate of North Carolina State University with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural business management and a minor in economics. He completed his master of business administration degree at Strayer University in 2011 with a concentration in finance. Majette is employed as a sales representative for the Sherwin-Williams Co.

Nuptials are planned for Sept. 29, 2012.
