COURTLAND—Southampton High School senior Marisa Cabell had 21 kills and her sophomore sister Madison added 16 to help the Lady Indians win the Southside District Tournament on Thursday.

Southampton, 17-0, on Tuesday will host the first game for the Region A playoffs. Game time and the opponent has yet to be announced. The Lady Indians are expected to play the number 3 seed from the Battlefield District.

The Lady Indians went 3-1 to beat visiting Prince Edward. Southampton’s scores were 20-25, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-16.

Southampton’s Candace Earls had 6 kills and 20 assists and Grayson Drake made 15 assists.

“Tonight was what we expected,” said Coach Chad Brock. “We knew they would come in and handle the ball well. They don’t give up and they dig just about everything we hit.”

“We need to continue to improve as we move forward,” he added. “It gets interesting now because whoever we play we will have very limited information about their team.”
