Pastors George and Mable Fenner Jr. of Zuni announce the engagement of their daughter, Tamara Whitney, to William Thompson Jr. of Suffolk.

He is the son of William and Barbara Thompson and grandson of Virginia Perry of Suffolk and the late Wilson Perry, John and Catherine Thompson.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Charlie and Beachola Whitney. She is also the daughter of Percy Williams and granddaughter of Vernell Williams, both of Washington, D.C.

The future bride is a 2000 graduate of Southampton High School and received her associate degree from Paul D. Camp Community College in 2007. She is a social worker with the Sussex County Department of Social Services.

Her future husband is a 2000 graduate of Lakeland High School and received his bachelor’s of science in organizational leadership and management from Regent University in 2007 and master’s of arts in human services with a business specialization from Liberty University in 2011. He is an administrative services specialist with Western Tidewater Community Services Board.

Their wedding will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at the New Mount Joy Food for Living Ministry, 307 County St., Suffolk.
