Southampton boys, girls win meets

COURTLAND—Southampton High School’s cross country team placed five boys in the top 10 to win Monday’s home meet against Greensville and Northampton.

The Lady Indians also won their meet, placing five in the top six.

For the boys, team scores were Southampton 31, Greensville 39 and Northampton 58. For the girls, they were Southampton 17 and Greensville 38. Northampton had two runners, which wasn’t enough for a team.

Bryan Draper took second overall for the Indians with a time of 19:29. Jeffrey Vincent was fourth with 20:02; Reece Britt, seventh with 20:44; Kevin Watford, eighth with 21:04; Daniel Lowdermilk,10th with 21:39; and Christopher Dunlow,14th with 22:36. All had personal and season best runs.

For the girls, Kirstyn Andrew was first followed by Holly Moore second, Ashley Giorgi third, Megan Owens fifth and Amber Gurganus sixth. Eighth-grader Sarah Giorgi had a season best run of 25:21
