PDCCC golf tourney winners named

FRANKLIN—Flight winners for the 8th Annual Paul D. Camp Community College Golf Tournament on Monday Cypress Cove Country Club in Franklin were the Bronco Federal Credit Union, Ricky Carr and Comfort Keepers teams.

Held Monday, the tournament sponsored by the PDCCC Foundation annually raises more than $20,000 for student scholarships, and staff and faculty needs.

The winners were:

First Flight

First Place—BFCU team: West Bryant of Franklin, T.J. Holliday of Boykins, Barry Pavlina of Sedley and Austin Teal of Franklin

Second Place—Wright Funeral Home team: Sion Carr, Sanford Belcher and Chris West, all of Franklin, and Eddie O’Berry of Newsoms

Third Place—Duke Automotive team: Ken Brown, Lance Simms and Freddy Ashby, all of Franklin, and Paul Phillips of Windsor

First Place—Ricky Carr team: Ricky Carr of Carrsville, Steve Ritter of Suffolk, Wayne Ford of Windsor and David Edwards of Sedley

Second Place—Southampton Memorial Hospital team: Phil Wright of Suffolk, Jonathan Wright of Franklin, Tony Pulley of Franklin and Miles Carr Jr. of Como, N.C.

Third Place—Law Office of Karen Rye (Team 2): Dave Lydick, Anna Stewart, Bill Hatfield and Merrill Curry, all of Virginia Beach.

Third Flight

First Place—Comfort Keepers team: Ed Patnesky, Dr. Rodney Bland and David Rabil, all of Franklin, and Todd Patnesky of Arlington

Second Place—McGinnis team: Jerry McGinnis of Surry, John Hardy of Suffolk, and Robert Cook and Steve McGrew, both of Smithfield

Third Place—EVB team: Bill Rollings and Rick Rowell, both of Surry, Dave Johnson of Prince George and Stewart Allmond of Chester

Prizes for superlative feats went to Will Hart of Franklin and Andrew Gregory of Smithfield for Closest to Pin; Pavlina for Longest Drive; and Steve Davis of Virginia Beach for Closest to the Line. Pavlina won the 50/50 Putting Contest.

On-site volunteers included Shamar Ballard, Shadeejah Hunt, Alexa Truitt, Essense Williams, Kimberly Holmes, Melissa Reid, Victor Williams, Karen Jenkins, Will Hart, Susan Francis, Matthew Mann, Dr. Joe Edenfield, Dr. Diana Conco, Liz Marshall, Lynn Phillips and Jeannette Belcher.

Smithfield Packing Co. was the primary sponsor, with Hubbard Peanut Co., Southampton Memorial Hospital and Dominion Virginia Power serving as major contributors.
