FREDERICKSBURG—William Thomas Baldwin, 85, of Fredericksburg, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at the Woodmont Center.

Mr. Baldwin was a U.S. World War II Marine veteran with 19 years of service and was present at the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima.

He retired after 21 years of service as a Control Room Operator from Dominion Virginia Power.

Mr. Baldwin was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Salem, OR #4.

For many years he was known as the “Coin Man” since he was a coin dealer in Fredericksburg for many years.

He was a recent resident at the Woodmont Center, Fredericksburg.

He is survived by his former wife and loving caretaker, Laura Embrey Baldwin; his daughter, Candy Burgess of Courtland, Va.; Billy Thomas Baldwin II of California and Sonny A. Baldwin of California; his stepchildren, Gaynel McCary of North Carolina, Cheryl McCary of Texas, Joyette Cole of Florida and Daniel W. McCary of Stafford; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted noon, Friday, August 26, 2011, at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania. The Rev. Amos Healy will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
