BOYKINS—Leroy Austin, 83, a native of Boykins, died July 29, 2011, at Courtland Healthcare.

He retired from Seaboard Railraod in 1988.

He was a World War II veteran.

He was also an individual tax preparer for many years.

He was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the capacity of a deacon and a senior choir member.

He leaves to cherish his memories of 60 years, his wife, Catherine Austin; five daughters, Connie Warren of Portsmouth, Priscilla Watson and Lois Flythe, both of Washington, D.C., Maxine Rollins of Waldorf, Md., Marshal Lynch (Ricky) of Martinsville, N.C.; three sons, Leroy Austin Jr. (Carolyn) of Boykins, David Austin (Edith) of Franklin and Wilson Austin (Kelly) of Manhattan, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ida M. Branch of Richmond, Va.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at Shiloh and the wake from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Burial Church Cemetery. The Rev. Curtis Mitchell, eulogist, and the Rev. Anthony Ferebee, presiding.
