CHESAPEAKE—The Southampton 10U All Stars’ girls’ softball team lost 8-1 to Tidewater Terror during a recent tournament in Deep Creek.

Southampton pitcher Elle Brown struck out three batters and Kellie Ferguson struck out one in the inning she pitched.

The game was locked at 1-0 with Tidewater Terror in the lead until the Terror scored four runs in the third inning.

Diamond Jones was Southampton’s only batter to reach a base on a hit.

Southampton protested the game because Tidewater Terror players did not have their Pony patches on their uniforms. You need the patches to participate in Pony-sanctioned tournaments.

The protest was valid, and the team was ordered to put on their patches in the fifth inning. Players wore their patches on armbands and not sewn to the uniform like other teams at the tournament.
