Capron 10U, 13U take titles

SEDLEY—Megan Simmons and Allison Matthews hit RBIs in the first, third and fifth innings to lead Capron 13U to a 6-2 win over Sedley and the post-season tournament title on Sunday.

Capron had another reason to celebrate, with its 10U team also taking a tournament title behind Kellie Ferguson’s 10 strikeouts for an 8-0 win over Sedley.

For the 13U championship game, Sedley scored two runs in the first inning, but Capron responded, tying the game 2-2.

Sedley remained scoreless for the rest of the game. Both teams had five hits.

Capron’s Bailey Griffin threw nine strikeouts, while Capron batters struck out 10 times.

In the 10U game, Capron scored one run through three innings.

Ferguson was walked to begin the fourth inning. Catcher Maddie Simmons was also walked. Both scored on steals.

After shutting Sedley down in the bottom of the fourth, Capron exploded for five runs for the win.

Capron struck out 13 batters and had two hits.
