NORFOLK—Coolidge Spratley, 84, died May 19, 2011, at Thornton Hall in Norfolk.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Second Calvary Baptist Church, 2940 Corprew Ave., Norfolk. Dr. Geoffrey V. Guns will officiate. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.

Mr. Spratley, a Southampton County native was educated in Isle of Wight public schools.

He was a longshoreman for ILA Local 1248 for 22 years. He was also employed with Tidewater Construction Co. for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie B. Spratley; daughters Gloria James, Belinda Wright and Darlene Etheridge and sons Calvin and Melvin Spratley.
