FRANKLIN—Ken Cussick, tennis pro at James L. Camp Jr. YMCA and Cypress Cove Country Club, and the Western Tidewater Tennis Association held a two-hour clinic for the Franklin High School girls’ tennis team Wednesday.

The association plans to do more clinics in hopes of encouraging more people to play.

Using humor and wit, Cussick mixed mini-lectures with court drills. The lectures covered topics from warm-ups to court strategies to pre-match preparation.

Court drills included footwork, doubles exercises and tennis service.

The tennis association will offer one-week camps this summer for players of all ages and levels at the country club. Flyers are available at the YMCA.
