IWA boys lose in tourney semifinals

PORTSMOUTH—Isle of Wight Academy lost 68-34 to Williamsburg Christian Academy in the semifinals of the Metro Conference Tournament on Friday night at Portsmouth Christian Academy.

Senior Brandon Privette scored 10 points for IWA.

Deron Powers scored 22 for Williamsburg Christian; Will Mausteller and Jake Durran added 14 each.

The Chargers trailed 12-1 at the end of the first quarter, 38-9 at the half and 57-19 at the end of the third quarter.

The Chargers should hear by Sunday as to whether or not they get into the state tournament. Prior to the tournament, Isle of Wight was ranked high enough, but that could change.

Williamsburg Christian will play Atlantic Shores for the tournament title at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.
