SUSSEX—Southampton High School junior Jalen Ford scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Indians to a 62-55 win over Sussex Central during their Wednesday season opener.
Junior Nick Doyle added 15 points.
The non-conference game was tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter and Southampton led 30-27 at the half before outscoring Sussex Central 19-9 in the third.
“In the third quarter we kept them at bay,” said Indians Coach Will Melbye.
Charles Bryant scored 20 for Sussex Central and teammate Dominic Dixon added 11.
Southampton will host Windsor High School at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13.
