WINDSOR—There was no joy in Windsor on Friday night as Sussex Central easily took out the Windsor High Dukes 74-14 in a Tri-Rivers District game.

After the teams traded interceptions on their opening drives, Sussex used a long punt return to the Dukes’ 2-yard line to set up a touchdown run by Tyrod Skipper. The two-point conversion made it 8-0, and the visitors never looked back, leading 32-0 at one point before Windsor got on the board.

Sussex led 52-14 at halftime.

“We made a good effort,” said Windsor head coach Chuck Parrish,” but we made too many mistakes.”

The Dukes’ scoring plays came on a touchdown pass from Austin Winkles to Aaron Echols, followed by a two-point conversion, and a 26-yard touchdown run by R.J. Edwards.

The second half was not pretty for the Dukes as the Tigers scored on their first possession and again quickly after an interception of a Winkles pass.

Edwards led the hosts with 114 yards rushing, while Winkles added 27.

Windsor travels to Surry County for another Tri-Rivers District contest on Friday.
