Bruce W. Cassidy and Penny R. Van Brackle, both of Courtland, have announced their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Roy Van Brackle of Lexington, Ala., and Patricia Hazelwood of Newsoms. She is the maternal granddaughter of Peggy Ferguson of Newsoms and the late Billy Ferguson, and the paternal granddaughter of Margaret Van Brackle of Freehold, N.J., and the late LeRoy Van Brackle.

Her future husband is the son of Ken and Jan Cassidy of Franklin. He is the maternal grandson of the late Dexter and Linnie Perkins, and the paternal grandson of Mable Cassidy of Oakland, Md., and the late Kenneth Cassidy.

A fall wedding is planned.
