Chris and Rita Schafer of Courtland announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie, to Andrew Brown.
He is the son of Anne and Mike Grubb of Dawson, W.Va., and Shari and David Brown of Clifton Forge.
The bride-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Southampton Academy and 2007 graduate of Virginia Tech with degrees in English and communication.
She is a third-year law student at Regent University in Virginia Beach.
Originally from Greenbrier County, W Va., her fiance also attended Virginia Tech and graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He is employed as an architecture intern at Naval Facilities Engineering Command and works at Norfolk Naval Base.
The couple will marry Oct. 2 at War Memorial Chapel at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
