Ronald J. Burgess
SUFFOLK—Ronald J. Burgess, 60, died Sept. 27, 2009, in Hampton Careplex.
A native of Conway, N.C., he retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 31 and was a member of Portsmouth Masonic Lodge No. 100, and Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church, Conway.
Survivors include his wife, Christine G. Burgess; two daughters, Donna L. Burgess and Sarah B. Mordica and husband William; one son, Jesse H. Burgess and wife Connie, all of Suffolk; stepmother, Faye Cobb Burgess of Murfreesboro, N.C.; one sister, Kathy Taylor; two stepsisters, Becky Byers of Franklin and Connie Baldwin of Murfreesboro; and two stepbrothers, Johnny Cobb of Murfreesboro and David Cobb of Georgia.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Pastor Jamey Stuart.
The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, Suffolk, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
