Linda H. Hines
SUFFOLK—Linda Hicks Hines died Aug. 19, 2009.
The Capron native was the daughter of Jim C. and Rena Mae Grant Hicks born on Oct. 26, 1945.
Ms. Hines was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, a member of the senior choir, president of the missionary society and superintendent of the Sunday School.
She was also a member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church Senior Citizens and the Bethany Baptist Association.
“Missionary Hines” enjoyed reciting poetry for Franklin’s radio station, WLQM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Delores Greene, Jessie Mae Hicks, Rebecca Wyche; four brothers, Linwood Hicks, James Hicks, Ernest Hicks and Phillip Hicks.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Linda Hines-Gore; five sisters, Gladys Whitehead of Newsoms, Ruth Brown of Capron, Margaret Jackson of Burlington, N.J., Amelia Lindsay of Richmond and Barbara Parker, of Capron; one brother, William “Tater” Hicks of Richmond; godchildren, Wanda Hicks, Triesha Howe; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives.
A service honoring her life’s journey will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Level Baptist Church, 23035 Church Street, Capron, where the Rev. H. Keith Rose is pastor; Elder Catherine Hamlin will deliver the message.
On the day of service, her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
