Roy C. Futrell
FORT BRAGG, N.C.—Roy C. Futrell Jr., 42, died July 27, 2009, at Womack Army Medical Center.
A native of Hertford County, he grew up in Murfreesboro, N.C., and joined the Air Force in 1985.
Mr. Futrell later joined the Air Force Reserve and was deployed in August 1990 to Saudi Arabia, serving in Desert Shield.
He was then transferred to Dover Air Force Base, Del. in November of 1990 where he attained the rank of master sergeant.
In 2009 he accepted a position at Pope Air Force Base, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Campbell Futrell of Ellendale, Del.; four children, Kasey Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Brandon Futrell and Cameron Futrell, all of Ellendale; two sisters, Tina Ashley of Ahoskie, N.C., and Terry Bridgers of Murfreesboro; and one grandchild.
Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service, Fayetteville, N.C., handled the arrangements.
