Martha H. Wellons
WINDSOR—Martha H. Wellons, 72, died July 23, 2009, at Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County and was the daughter of the late Floyd Hill Sr. and Eva Hall Hill and the widow of Herman Lee Wellons Sr.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Hill and Floyd Hill Jr.
Mrs. Wellons attended the Isle of Wight Training School.
She was retired from Gwaltney Meat Company. She was a member of Mt. Olive Holiness Church, Windsor, where she was a Senior Usher, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Kitchen Committee, Hospitality Committee and Vice President of the Missionary Ministry.
Survivors include her three daughters, Tammy Rawls (Terry) of Carrsville, Dana Cary (Robert) and Wendy Johnson (Morse) of Smithfield; five sons, Herman Wellons Jr. (Erica) of Windsor, Michael Wellons (Charlotte) of Smithfield, Shelton Wellons of Windsor, Steve Wellons (Karen) of Smithfield and Allen Wellons (Donna) of Newport News; two sisters, Mary Warren (John) of Ivor, Eva Pearl Clinton (Ernest) of Baltimore, Md. and Virginia Wise of Smithfield; 14 grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren, sisters-in-law; goddaughter, Dyphia Finney; devoted friend, Christine Booker; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Her homegoing was celebrated Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church, Windsor, officiated by Elder William Felton.
Interment was in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery, Ivor.
Crocker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
