George E. Britt
NORFOLK—George Edward “Buck” Britt died July 26, 2009.
Born on March 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Willie “Red” Britt and Narcissus “Sis” Harris Britt.
He had a passion for music.
Survivors include his wife, Halliwese Turner of Norfolk; three daughters, Ruby Ricks (Melvin Sr.) of Franklin, Angela Britt (Don Harrison) of Norfolk and Consuela Britt; three grandchildren, Demetrius Darden of Norfolk, Melvin Ricks Jr. of Virginia Beach and Michael Darden Jr. of Norfolk; four great-grandchildren, Denisha Smith, Shakeria Boone, Amil Darden and Azaria Darden, all of Norfolk; nine sisters, Ruby Brown of Atlanta, Ga., Ann Sharp Ellison (Willie) of Franklin, Virginia Lawson (Billy) of Atlanta, Lavern Seaborn of Courtland, Sylvia Bowers (Anthony) of Franklin, Coralee Caldwell of Tarrytown, N.Y., Josephine Martin (James) of White Plain, N.Y., Mary Britt of Franklin and Barbara Cooper Brennan (Ray) of Silver Spring, Md.; three stepsisters, Ann Elliott, Debra Brown and Felicia Jones; three stepbrothers, William Brown Jr., Wallace Brown and Edward Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Britt.
A tribute of life service will be held at noon Thursday at Full Gospel Kingdom Church, Franklin, with the Rev. Earva Lee Sumblin-Jones, eulogist.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
