Franklin City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tamara Sterling was recently elected to join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia Board of Directors.

A press release from the school system stated that as a board member, Sterling will help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia provide children with resources and opportunities needed to reach their full potential as productive and responsible citizens.

“At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia, we strive to provide members with dynamic programs focused in our five core areas: Character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation, and education and career,” Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia President and CEO Kevin Will stated. “Together, they encompass our three priority outcomes: Academic success, good character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles.”

Along with dedicated administrative and club staff, board members help to protect the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs and ensure that youth in the community continue to receive vital resources through the program. As a member of the board, Sterling will contribute to the Boys & Girls Clubs movement across Southeastern Virginia.

“I am extremely excited and honored to be selected to represent Franklin City Public Schools and the students in this area on the board,” Sterling said.
