Janette Felts Lowe

For decades, Janette enthusiastically embraced her role as a farm wife and mother. An outstanding cook, she thoroughly enjoyed carrying food to hungry farmers in the fields during harvest season.

An outdoor enthusiast, Janette loved gardening and tending to the flowers in her beautiful yard. For many years, she served on the board of directors of the Franklin-Southampton County Fair, as well as volunteering for 20 years on the livestock committee. Janette also served on the Board of Directors at the Airfield Conference Center and Southeast 4-H Educational Center in Wakefield.

A true animal lover, one of Janette’s greatest joys was breeding Jack Russell Terriers and she counted many of them among her closest companions over the years. Janette also loved Tennessee Walkers and enjoyed showing them with her husband at horse competitions throughout Virginia. She made many friends over the 29 years she attended the Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee, as well as the Virginia State Fair and the Eastern Virginia Stud Ram Sale.

Mrs. Lowe is survived by her husband of 61 years, John William “Jack” Lowe; her daughter, Robyn Lowe Hall (Doug); sons John W. Lowe Jr. (Cindy) and Bryan C. Lowe (Becky); grandchildren, Jay Fox (Carrie), Peter Fox (Yuko), Sam Fox and Joseph Fox, Winston Lowe (Lyndsay), Matthew Lowe (Kelsey), Marindy Creef and Morgan Lowe Casper; 15 great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Julian A. Felts and David R. Felts of Sedley; and her beloved companion, Fuzzy.

Janette’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her final and dedicated caregivers, Jeanette Binns, Debbie Munford and Betsy Bradshaw.

Mrs. Lowe was an active member of Ivor Methodist Church, where she taught countless children and completed the two-year Bethel Bible Study. Her family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Ivor Methodist Church, 8511 Main St., Ivor, Virginia, 23866. Services will be private. Wright Funeral Home in Franklin is handling arrangements.
