FRANKLIN – Carey Hinson Blythe, 90, passed away on Feb. 6, 2021, in East Pavilion.

Carey was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, and was the last survivor of 12 children of Charlie and Sweetie Blythe.

He was a retired operator in the Pulp Mill of Union Camp Corp., and was a lifelong member of Hunterdale Christian Church. He was a former Virginia National Guardsman.

Carey was predeceased by his parents, and his two wives, Rosa Capps Blythe and Cora Anne Jones. He was also predeceased by nine sisters, Virgie B. Harris, Margaret B. Wilson, Claris B. Graham, Vina B. Overby, Lola B. Bass, Stella B. Richardson, Janice B. Hollowell, Shirley West March and Doris B. Holt; and two brothers, Charles Morris “Puffy” Blythe and Edgar Blythe.

Survivors include many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at East Pavilion for their wonderful care.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Wayne Blythe officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hunterdale Christian Church.
