FRANKLIN – Toby Ann Gross, 82, widow of William Billips “Bill” Gross, passed away on Jan. 17, 2021, in the East Pavilion.

Born on July 3, 1938, in Giles County, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Gray and Thelma Burton Gray. She was also predeceased by two sons, William and Randy Hare, a sister, Lucille Richardson and a brother, Jimmy Gray.

Toby was a member of Franklin Church of God and the former owner of Next to New in Franklin.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Katrina Carr and her husband, Mark of Ivor, and Debbie Parker and her husband, Kenny of Chesapeake; a son, David Hare and his wife, Dee of Dublin; a brother, Dan Gray and his wife, Debbie of Christiansburg; two daughters-in-law, Sylvia Hare of Oakboro, North Carolina, and Janice Hare of Bealeton, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Barbara Gray of Pembroke; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at the East Pavilion for their wonderful care.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m., in Givens-Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, Virginia, and a funeral at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Gove Cemetery.
