FRANKLIN — Romie Burwell “R.B.” Greene, 78, passed away on July 24, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond.

R.B. was born on Aug. 23, 1941 in Lunenburg County, Virginia, a son of the late Romie Edley Green and Lena Cash Green.

He was a retired superintendent of No.1 paper machine for Union Camp Corp. after 34 years of service.

He was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, and president of the Fellowship for Christ Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel Raiford Greene; one daughter, Lori Greene Bailey (Steve) of Courtland; one son, Steven Lynn Greene (Hope) of Franklin; two sisters, Barbara G. Normyle (Patrick) of Fairfax and Melinda G. Harrison (Wallace) of Windsor; two brothers, Hoyle B. Green (Jean) of Courtland and Larry R. Green (Lori) of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Faye Harrell Green; three grandsons, Zachary Greene (Nacasa) Travis Bailey (Jillian) and Bradley Bailey (Meredith); a great-grandson, Aiden Bailey’ and nieces and nephews.

R.B. was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Henry Green and James Stuart Green.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, in Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. Burial will be private in Southampton Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter or Tucker Swamp Baptist Church.
