On Nov. 11, Meherrin Elementary School paid tribute to the community veterans during the annual Veterans Day program. Through poems, songs, salutes, and a special reading on the evolution of coding, the students and staff shared their appreciation for the dedicated service of the visiting veterans.
Following the student portion of the program, each veteran was called to the stage by name, branch of service and years of service for the students to recognize. As a special surprise, the veterans returned the salute of the students to conclude the program.
Following refreshments, veterans and special guests visited the classrooms to see how the students themselves are using coding today. The school thanks all veterans for their dedicated service to our nation.
