BOYKINS — Sherman Vincent Sr., 78, of Boykins, Virginia, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, in the comfort of his home.

Sherman was born on Monday, Jan. 20, 1941, in Southampton County, Virginia, to the parentage of the late Willie Vincent and Essie Woodard Vincent.

Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife, Helen Nichols Vincent of the home; his daughter, Sharon Mason (Michael Sr.) of Boykins; three sons, Sherman A. Vincent Jr. (Kimberly) of Suffolk, Virginia; Reginald Vincent and Rodney Vincent (Tasha), both of Boykins; eight grandchildren, Shonda, Derrick, Kayla, Ron, Mike, Lil Rodney, Cee Cee and Terrionna; 10 great-great grandchildren, Darius, Derek Jr., Sidney, Jada, Jade, Danay, Na’Kiyla, Syniah, Jariyah and Laighla; two sisters, Janie Vincent and Shirley Russell, both of Boykins, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

T.L. Faison’s Funeral Care LLC., 301 Park St., Seaboard, North Carolina, is handling the funeral arrangements, where there will be a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The celebration of life will be at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Mars Hill Baptist Church, 11211 Low Ground Road, Emporia, Virginia, with the Rev. Denise Avent delivering words of comfort.

Mr. Vincent will lie in state one hour prior to service. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
