The world is waiting for you

Graduates of Western Tidewater high schools, we’ve got the proverbial bad news and good news that awaits you after graduation. The bad news is there’s more learning in store. Yep. If you dared to hope that the time of reading, homework, term papers and tests was over, we’re sorry to be the ones to tell you: Nope. Not even close.

The good news is there’s more learning in store! That’s so exciting we thought an exclamation mark was justified. Really. By continuing your education at a college or vocational school for a trade or even military service, you’ll not be burdened with “stuff you’ll never use in real life.” That’s because most, if not all of you, will be pursuing knowledge that’s practical for a future career and, no less important, to live a full and enriching life.

Even after you earn degrees and certificates that entitle you to teach other students or fix a plumbing emergency, don’t settle. Keep looking for ways to be the best at your profession. Continually learning not only keeps you current for work, but also sharpens your mind and whets the appetite to explore.

We wish you much success in the learning ahead, and that you’ll realize that it’s really good news that more learning awaits you.
