FRANKLIN – Shelby Jean Futrell Bradshaw, age 88, passed away on June 25, 2025 at East Pavilion, in Franklin, Virginia. She was born on June 7, 1937 to the late Fitzhugh and Learlie Futrell of Northampton County, North Carolina. Jean retired from the Franklin Public School System with 20 plus years of service and was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Linwood Bradshaw Sr.; sisters, Marion Gavin, Ann Mitchell, Mae Futrell, Pearl Lyles, Addie Ricks, Millie Dixon and Annie Futrell and brothers, Willard Davis, Melton, Fitzhugh L. “Dick” Jr., Roy T. William Curtis and Talton Futrell.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Joseph Linwood Bradsha, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Alpharetta, Georgia, Jill Bradshaw Brock and her husband, Chad of Zuni, Virginia and Jack Futrell Bradshaw and his wife, Joanne Barham of New York, New York; three granddaughters, Sadie Blythe Wright, Lauren Elizabeth Bradshaw and Reese Johannah Brock; brother, Dalton Futrell a

nd his wife, Betty Lou of Tybee Island, Georgia. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jean will be remembered for her love for her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, knitting and playing games.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7 at 11 a.m. in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hyatt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
