CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Effie King, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on Nov. 26, 1936, in Bonnerton, North Carolina, Effie lived a life marked by unwavering faith, deep love for her family and tireless service to her community.
Effie was a graduate of SW Snowden
High School. She later earned an associate degree from Paul D. Camp Community College and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education in 1991, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Norfolk State University.
Over more than three decades Effie worked in the Franklin school system, she served as a substitute teacher, teacher’s aide and social studies teacher.
Effie’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a young girl in Bonnerton, she joined Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she quietly contributed by playing piano for the choir. Upon moving to Franklin, she became a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Boykins for over 60 years.
Family was central to Effie’s heart. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Adolphus and stood beside him with strength and grace throughout their life together. She was a loving mother and grandmother whose support extended beyond her immediate family – she was like a second mother to many nieces and nephews.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Terence Moore (April) and Effran King (Cassandra); daughter-in-love Tiffany King; grandchildren Shawndra King, Aaron Moore (Latise), David King, Ashley King, Shawn King Jr., Alexander King and Simone King; and great-grandchildren Kalen, Imani, Isaiah, Isaac and Karter.
