FRANKLIN – Billy Thomas Benson, 76, passed away at home on June 11, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in Ayden, North Carolina, he was the son of the late George William and Marjorie Benson, and was predeceased by his son, Christopher William Benson and his sister, Patricia Ann Butler.

A proud veteran, Billy served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era, where he was awarded four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his courageous service. Following his military service, he worked in Sheet Finishing at Union Camp before retiring.

ling to help anyone and could repair anything.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Sandra; two loving sons, Kevin (Michele) and Drew (Karen); and three treasured grandchildren, Paisley, Landon and Maddux. He also leaves behind five dear siblings, Carol Bowen, June Whaley, Ben Benson (Angie), Peggy Stocks and Steve Benson (Terri); a brother-in-law, Curt Butler and a wealth of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service with military honors to celebrate Billy’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be private.
