ONANCOCK – William “ Billy” Craig Sawyer Sr., 74, passed away June 9, 2025 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Virginia surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late John Craig Sawyer and Louise Sawyer. He was the beloved husband of Theresa A. Sawyer.

Billy graduated from Gates County High School. He retired from Union Camp Paper Company in Franklin, Virginia. In 1999, he founded and operated Repair Tech, an industrial contracting business, in Franklin with his wife Nancy and three sons. In 2015, he retired to the Eastern Shore after turning the business over to his sons. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. After retirement, he and his wife Theresa enjoyed living the good life on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

He was predeceased by his wife Nancy W. Sawyer; brothers John Agrippa Sawyer, Richard Thomas Sawyer, and sister Joan Sawyer Chappell.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Theresa A. Sawyer; his three sons and their wives, Craig (Laura,) Nathan (Leslie,) and Michael (Jessica); grandchildren Sam, Audrey, Hadley and Wes and extended family Carolyn Ferraro, Jeff Griffin (Amanda) and grandchildren Ashlyn, Dominic, Josie, Elliott and Matthew. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Sawyer Eure; brother, Donnie L. Sawyer, many loved nieces, nephews and beloved fur baby, Katherine “Katie” of Vaucluse.

Services will be private and held at a later date. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Downtown Suffolk Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
