According to a media release from The Village at Woods Edge, Billie Turner, Executive Director, was named the recipient of the 2025 LeadingAge Virginia Conference Excellence in Philanthropy Award. This honor recognizes her remarkable impact on the lives of older adults and her unwavering commitment to the Franklin-Southampton community.
Billie has served The Village at Woods Edge for nearly two decades with heart, integrity, and purpose. She has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission to enhance the lives of every resident. Before being promoted to Executive Director, she served as the first Director of Asa’s Neighborhood, the Memory Care community at The Village, and was integral in establishing the foundation of its person-centered care approach to those living with dementia. She is dedicated to advocating for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and spearheads the community’s annual Neighborhood Block Party—a fundraising event that has collectively raised over $100,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Billie is known for her hands-on leadership and compassionate spirit. She actively serves on local boards, volunteers with community organizations, and fosters a culture of collaboration and care. Whether leading a team or lending a helping hand, Billie ensures the voices of older adults are heard, respected, and prioritized.
“Billie’s passion and dedication have helped shape a community rooted in compassion, connection, and care. We are proud to celebrate her impact on The Village at Woods Edge and the lives she continues to touch,” said Lisa Turner, Administrator.
A longtime community leader even before joining The Village, Billie has consistently championed efforts that empower others and promote dignity across generations.
Billie was recognized for her outstanding service and received this award at the LeadingAge Virginia Conference held in Norfolk on June 3, 2025.
