Janna Leigh Flinchum Barnette, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the daughter of Elever Lee Flinchum and Madeline Cox Flinchum Hogan, both of whom predeceased her. Janna was also predeceased by her mother’s second husband, Guy Esmond Hogan.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 60 years, Gary Vann Barnette, Sr., their three treasured children, Gary Vann Barnette, Jr. (Kristen), Kevin Lee Barnette (Elizabeth), Kimberly Ann Barnette and bonus daughter, Brittany McDaniel. Cole Barnette, Vann Foster Barnette, Greyson Scott Barnette (Jayde), Jordan Taylor Carr, and Hannah Mitchell Sawyer. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Linus Flinchum (Jill) and Linda Flinchum Holland.
Janna will be most remembered for her steadfast love of her family and her devotion to making a home for Gary and their children. Janna was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and prayed constantly for those she loved. She was a wonderful homemaker, and loved finding “just the right thing” on her many yard sale and shopping excursions and spending time with her family and friends over the years.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 11 a.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory,Wakefield Chapel, 11414 General Mahone Hwy., Wakefield, VA, conducted by Pastor Vann Foster Barnette. A private burial for family followed at Central Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
