Margaret Zerick, of Windsor, took home a progressive jackpot recently worth $1,041.50 at the Smithfield Public Bingo Session sponsored by American Legion Post 49. A Post news release noted that Zerick is a regular player and member of the Legion Auxiliary, volunteering to sell pre-game tickets and providing homemade baked goods for the Auxiliary to sell to players. Eight progressive games are played each week; they begin with a $250 jackpot that grows weekly. Other games pay out $40-$60 based on the number attending. Public bingo is every Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. at the Post 49, which is located at 818 S. Church St. in Smithfield. All are welcome, and refreshments are available at the event. Card sales begin at 6 p.m., and doors open at 5 p.m. Scratch-off game cards and gaming machines are also available prior to the start of weekly bingo sessions.
