BLACK CREEK – Candance Sherri Elliott-Cromwell, 47, of Black Creek, Virginia, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on May 27, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1977, in Black Creek, Virginia, to the late Carolyn Faye Williams Elliott and Ralphel Elliott Sr.

Candance was a graduate of Southampton High School, Class of 1995. She continued her education at Paul D. Camp Community College, Virginia Commonwealth University and Old Dominion University. She was a lifelong member of New Refuge Bibleway Church, where she shared her musical gifts by playing the keyboard and singing.

Candance was deeply loved by all who knew her. She never met a stranger. Her heart was always open, and her love knew no bounds. With a nurturing spirit and calming presence, she made everyone around her feel seen, valued, and cared for. Her kindness, compassion, and quiet strength touched many lives.

She will be remembered for her generous heart and the deep love she had for her family, friends, and community. Candance found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing, and watching Disney movies. She loved unconditionally and gave selflessly, always placing others before herself. Her love left an enduring mark on everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn Faye Williams Elliott and Ralphel Elliott Sr.; her stepson, Alson “Scooter” Cromwell III.; and her grandparents, Dorothy and Lloyd Elliott.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Alson Cromwell Jr.; her daughters, Allyson and Allyssa Cromwell; her stepdaughter, Kyra Shanta Cromwell; brothers, Ralphel Elliott Jr. (Jamie), Lloyd Elliott (Robyn), Johnathan Elliott (Christel) and Joseph Elliott (Alissa); sisters, Charity Elliott, Amanda Hoskins (Tadarrian), and Jacqueline Winborne (Thurman); grandchildren Legacii A’Ziyah-Jurnee Walker, Sevyn Amaris O’Neal, Kehlani Moriyah O’Neal, Aubrey and Ayan Cromwell; stepmother, Jacqueline Fenton and many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply and will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Apostolic Faith Church of God, located at 608 Oak Street, Franklin, Virginia. A public viewing will take place on Monday, June 2 from 3 – 7 p.m. at William M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 224 South Main Street, Franklin, Virginia. The committal and benediction will follow the service at Elliott Cemetery. A private repast will be held for the family afterward.
