Genesis 1:27 speaks of the great mystery of humanity; “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” We have been created as image bearers of the eternal God of the universe! God is a spirit being, man is both spirit and flesh. Jesus Christ took on flesh to fully become one of us, we receive the Holy Spirit to enable us to commune with God. We are created with a longing to worship God.

But sadly, much of the world is lost with no relationship with the Redeemer of our soul. Sin has broken this relationship; the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has brought hope and life back into humanity, blessed are the image bearers who believe!

Christians around the world recently celebrated holy week finishing with resurrection Sunday. The time between Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, and His resurrection the following Sunday, accomplished the greatest mission in the history of mankind, redemption and eternal hope! The shed blood on the cross of calvary is payment in full for our deserved wrath. However, it must be applied individually to each soul by faith. Blessed are the image bearers who believe in the saving work of Jesus Christ!

Throughout this year we willingly and eagerly celebrate in remembrance of our Lords last Passover meal in the upper room, and the greatest expression of love that followed, giving up His life, taking on our sin, in exchange for our eternal freedom. May each holy communion be an expression of thanksgiving for His marvelous gift of salvation. Blessed are the disciples who believe. Are you ready to repent and believe?

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest reason for celebration and joy for the one who believes. But for the unbeliever, you should not be satisfied with another year of guilt, depression and addiction, rather, join the family of God by faith. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ rest upon your heart, and may the joy of your deliverance, and the eternal hope of your calling, completely transform you. Is your seat reserved at the marriage supper of the Lamb? I pray so, if not, Jesus is a prayer away.
