BOYKINS – Bettie Eastwood Newsome, 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 4, 2025 at The Village at Woods Edge. Born July 4, 1943, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Herbert M. Eastwood and Bettie Phillips Harris Eastwood. She was also predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Newsome Jr. and an infant brother, Herbert M. Eastwood Jr.
Bettie was a retired corporate secretary for Resinall Corporation in Severn, North Carolina and was a member of Boykins Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Matthew W. Robertson III (Francy) and Todd E. Newsome (Susan); a sister, Marian E. Taylor (Richard); and two grandchildren, William N. Robertson (Kyndall) and Brooke R. Peele (Brian).
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 10 in Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins, Virginia with Officiant Pam Smith officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The Village at Woods Edge.
